Don Heath has served as our minister since September 2007. Don is an ordained minister in the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). He received his Masters of Divinity degree with high honors (summa cum laude) from Phillips Theological Seminary in Tulsa and is in his final year of classes in the Doctor of Ministry program at PTS. Don also practices law with the firm of Hirsch, Heath & White, PLLC in Oklahoma City. Don is the Chair of the Oklahoma Coalition to Abolish the Death Penalty. Don is on sabbatical in summer 2024.
Mary Heath has served as minister with Don Heath since September 2011. Mary is an ordained minister in the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). She received a Masters of Divinity degree from Phillips Theological Seminary and a Bachelor of Science in Education from the University of Central Oklahoma. Mary also is the director of our Preschool/Mother's Day Out, which began in August 2012. Mary is the Chair of the Commission on Refugee and Immigrant Ministries for the Christian Church in Oklahoma. Mary is on sabbatical in summer 2024.
Russ Pollock is our Minister of Worship. Russ is a native-born Okie from rural NW Oklahoma. Russ is currently completing the Masters of Divinity program at Phillips Theological Seminary in Tulsa. Russ is also a graduate with honors of Phillips University with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Philosophy. Before coming to Disciples Church, Russ served as the Campus Pastor for the Episcopal and Lutheran Student Ministry at Southwestern Oklahoma State University as well as the associate pastor of Grace Lutheran Church in Weatherford, OK. Russ also serves as substitute pianist, song leader, and elder. Russ and Kathy McCallie will be interim ministers during summer 2024.
Before joining the faculty at Phillips, Kathleen McCallie served 26 years in pastoral ministry ordained in the United Church of Christ. In addition to her experience leading congregations, she worked as a denominational officer in the UCC, social activist, and community organizer in various justice-seeking movements while teaching government and ethics. Her research focuses on ethical issues, social and transnational justice movements, and intersections of church and governance. Her favorite classes to teach include travel immersion courses to Nicaragua, Israel/Palestine, and the US/Mexico border. McCallie is currently completing the second year of a three-year training and certification in spiritual direction. She loves nothing more than working to change systems and discussing theories of justice and metaphysics of morals.
